(City Name Here, VA) -- A new pilot program to employ panhandlers in Prince William County has been put on hold. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: The Prince William County’s board of supervisors voted to put the program on hold, at least for now. The program would have offered pandhandlers a chance to work up to six hours a week at $13 an hour to pick up trash on the side of highways. It was organized through a partnership with the nonprofit Keep Prince William Beautiful. Several supervisors voted to defer action on the plan saying it just wasn't ready to be implemented. They cited safety issues and problems with the communications plan. Proponents say it would have helped address the rise in panhandling in the area. I'm RR.
