(Thornton Gap, VA) -- Skyline Drive has reopened after a weather closure. Richard Stelling has more.Preview: Voicer Script:
Shenandoah National Park has reopened a portion of Skyline Drive after cold temperatures left the route too dangerous to travel. The park closed a 34-mile section of the roadway between Thornton Gap and Swift Run Gap yesterday, but reopened it by the afternoon. Officials said rapidly changing road conditions in the winter can create hazards, so drivers should always take their time and travel slower than the speed limit when necessary. More closures are possible this week, as below-freezing temperatures are in the forecast.
