Compassion Animal Project will be hosting a pet food giveaway on June 8th in Richmond. Officials with the animal welfare nonprofit tell CBS6 they plan to hand out 13 thousand meals to pets including more than 4 thousand pounds of dog and cat food they have available. The pet food pantry wants to make sure that pets have enough to eat this year and will be open all summer for individuals in need. This weekend's event will be held Saturday at the Holiday Barn Pet Resorts' Midlothian facility from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and it will be first come, first serve.
