The department says they've received reports of people claiming to be police officers and telling the caller they have missed a court appearance and must pay a fine. The scammers are using different phone numbers, and are able to spoof the police department's actual phone number. The police department says they do not make phone calls regarding court appearances or warrants and never ask for money.
