The crash happened May 5th after the twin-engine plane took off from Manassas Regional Airport on its way to South Carolina. The NTSB says the plane was at 20-thousand feet when the pilot told an air traffic controller that he had lost autopilot and needed to climb. The plane reportedly started to come apart over Fluvanna County, scattering pieces across a three-and-a-half-mile path. The pilot and a passenger died in the crash.
