Members voted to change the county's Trust Policy at a meeting yesterday. It will change the section in the policy which dictates when Arlington police can notify ICE about an arrest. Board members claimed people in the communtiy were becoming increasingly fearful to call emergency services when they needed help. Several support the change saying public safety is their top priority, adding that communities are not safe when its members are scared to ask for help they're entitled to. Virginia law still requires people in detention facilities to be entered into an ICE database.
