(Portsmouth, VA) -- Workers at the Port of Virginia are now on strike. Rocio Rivera has the latest.Preview: The contract between the International Longshoremen’s Association and United States Maritime Alliance has officially expired without renewal. The two sides had been working on renewing their contract, but failed to come to an agreement before the contract expired at midnight today. That means the Port of Virginia is currently closed for business. Dockworkers are asking for more pay, and protections against automation. The effects of the strike are still to be seen, but officials say it could impact the local econonmy just as they would have ramped up for the holidays. I'm RR.
