Approximately 15-hundred customers in Portsmouth are currently without power as of 7 a.m. Monday morning, according to Dominion Energy's outage map. 13News Now reports the exact cause of the outage and estimated time of restoration are still unknown. Weekend storms also cause residents in southwest Virginia to lose power with Smyth, Washington, and Russell counties hit the hardest, according to the Bristol Herald Courier. Residents are advised to check Dominion Energy's website or mobile app for updates and to report outages if necessary. Meteorologists say Monday's weather will be dry but more strong thunderstorms are expected to enter southwest Virginia Tuesday night and reach Richmond and Norfolk by Wednesday afternoon.
