>>Thousands Across Central VA Wait for Appalachian Power to Restore Service After Strong Overnight Winds
(Lynchburg, VA) -- Strong overnight winds disrupted power service to thousands of people across central Virginia and caused school delays. All Bedford County Public Schools were on a two-hour delay Thursday due to severe weather causing power outages and debris in the roadway. Over 10,000 Appalachian Power customers lost power with many having service restored already. However, a spokesperson for the utility tells WSET it could be late Thursday night before all customers get their power back. Parts of Virginia will see overnight lows dip into the low 20s overnight Thursday into Friday and higher elevations could see a few snowflakes. Forecasters say milder temperatures will not return until next week.
