Some relief for wallets in Halifax County - Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative, a not-for-profit energy provider, has announced a rate reduction for its customers, marking the second decrease in the past year. The Gazette-Virginians reports the cooperative has lowered residential rates for members using 1,000 kilowatthours per month by $3.51, resulting in a yearly savings of $42.12. The reduction in costs is attributed to lower fuel prices for electricity generation and decreased power prices in the region.
