Board members are considering a nearly 6% tax increase for the average homeowner. County Executive Christopher Shorter proposed a nearly $2 billion budget, including a $0.92 tax rate per $100 of assessed value. The budget includes funding for a mental health crisis center and a Senior Center Without Walls program. WUSA 9 reports that supervisors discussed alternative revenue streams, such as raising the "C and P tax" and adjusting the revenue-sharing agreement with the school system. The public can participate in a virtual community meeting on Feb. 22 to provide input on the budget
