Eight counts of felony child abuse have been filed against 39-year-old Ebony Parker. WAVY-TV reports indictments showing that Parker had a "reckless disregard for human life," because she failed to act to protect students on the day that a six-year-old shot his teacher, Abby Zwerner, in the classroom at Richneck Elementary School. Parker reportedly had been warned that the student had a gun, but did not act to call authorities or put the school on lockdown. Zwerner has filed a 40-million dollar lawsuit against Newport News Schools and personnel. The young boy's mother was sentenced to prison for felony child neglect.
