State lawmakers returned to Richmond yesterday to discuss modifications to the budget, as well as amendments to individual bills. They rejected the governor's request for 25-million dollars to create a private school scholarship program. They also shot down an amendment to withhold funding from local law enforcement agencies that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. The governor has 30 days to decide if he will veto bills and budget items sent back to him by the General Assembly.
