The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority has voted on a deal with Norfolk Southern Corporation. It involves buying the Manassas Line and access to the Main Line. That, according to the authority, would increase passenger rail options for thousands of Virginians. In a statement, Governor Youngkin said he is pleased with the vote adding that it advances a "better, faster and cheaper solution" to passenger rail in the New River Valley, while also "bolstering service in Northern Virginia." Discussions between VPRA and Norfolk Southern began in June and the deal is set to be finalized in September.
