(Richmond, VA) -- The state of Virginia is seeing a surge in respiratory illnesses. Rocio Rivera has more.Preview: The Virginia Department of Health says about 20% of er visits in the state are for respiratory issues. They say they're seeing an increase in RSV in children ages four and under. But they're also seeing an increase in Covid and flu. People 65 years of age and older are the largest percentage of hospitalizations for covid. And most people admitted for the flu are between the ages of five-years-old and 17. The CDC says to continue washing hands to ward off illnesses and recommend getting updated vaccinations. I'm RR.
