Mayor Danny Avula presented his budget proposal to the city council yesterday. The FY 2026 budget calls for three billion dollars in spending, but Avula says it does not include a tax increase. It does include an increase in water, wastewater and gas bills, though. Also, the budget calls for living wages, improved benefits, 50 million dollars for housing and funding for 60 more police officers. The budget also includes an extra 10 million for public education. Avula says the budget reflects our shared priorities.
