The operation conducted by The Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force began about two years ago and now WSLS reports that more than five-million dollars worth of drugs have been confiscated. It includes 163-pounds of marijuana, 124-pounds of meth, 48-pounds of cocaine and 12-pounds of fentanyl. In addition, more than 200 illegal firearms were seized and 48 people were arrested. The task force is made up of Roanoke City and County Police, Salem City Police, Vinton Police and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Salem.
