Blacksburg officials say they want to see responsible growth in the Toms Creek Basin, a 4 thousand-acre tract that is largely made up of farms, fields, and wooded areas. The primary goal is to understand the small community's needs and wants in the area to prevent haphazard development. The Cardinal News reports the consulting group will work with town representatives and residents to create a vision for the basin that balances residential development with outdoor recreation and agricultural assets. The plan is not focused on unbridled housing development but on strategic growth that considers infrastructure and community input. The town expects final recommendations by February 2025.
