The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Virginia's request to purge non-citizens from state voter rolls Wednesday. Election Law Blog dot org reports that the vote fell along party lines with Republican-appointed Justices voting to allow the purge and Democratic-appointed Justices dissenting. The justices were asked to decide if purging voters who self-identify as non-citizens from the voter rolls was legal this close to the election because of a federal law. Although, the initial move to do so started in August when Governor Glenn Youngkin issued an executive order. The move was delayed until recently due to a lawsuit from Virginia Coalition for Immigrants Rights. Anyone removed erroneously can take advantage of the state's same day voter registration.
