The Board's budget has increased significantly in recent years, with a focus on enhancing school safety. The city plans to absorb the cost of school resource officers in the new budget. As well, plans for a new Elephant’s Fork Elementary School location and updates to recreational facilities agreements were also discussed. The Suffolk News Herald reports the city's proposed budget includes funding for various school projects and debt services, with a public hearing scheduled for April 16th.
