The Anna Julia Cooper School is a private school in Church Hill that educates low-income children and covers their tuition. Officials say they have applied for a special use permit for a new facility. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports plans include expanding the campus by constructing a new elementary school building at a cost of approximately $12 million dollars. The expansion aims to double the size of the elementary school, accommodating nearly 300 students and featuring a gym, playground, and grassy space. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
