Virginia schools serving low-income and at-risk students will receive $371.3 million in additional funding over the next two years, with most localities opting into the program. Data shows that at-risk students made up 43% of Virginia's total enrollment last year. The Virginia Mercury reports changes to the at-risk program aim to provide more support for students through one-on-one instruction, nutritional meals, and before-and after-school programs. The new funding formula will allocate resources based on each school division's weighted Identified Student Percentage.
