School officials at the high school were alerted that a student had a handgun in their backpack.
They were able to find the student on campus, search them, and found the unloaded weapon.
Both criminal and disciplinary actions will be taken.
School officials are now reminding all of their students that if they witness any suspicious behavior, they should always report it to an adult. The high school has over 2,000 students enrolled.
