Voicer Script:
Pulaski County Public Safety introduced sensory emergency kits to assist individuals who may become overwhelmed or have difficulty communicating during emergencies. These kits, which include items like pain charts, headphones, sunglasses, and fidget toys, aim to improve communication between first responders and patients. Assistant EMS director Mike Garnett tells WDBJ these kits are important in creating a more comfortable environment for patients and enhancing patient assessment. The kits are designed for both adults and children and are made possible through donations from local businesses and the support of the Pulaski County Board of Supervisors.
