Democratic lawmakers spoke yesterday about their priorities as the legislature enters the second half of the 2025 session. Democrats say they are proud to have used their majority to pass bills to raise the minimum wage, ban sales of assault weapons and make access to abortion a part of the state constitution. Republicans have been less impressed, calling some of the bills passed by Democrats "really extreme." Bills approved by both the House and the Senate still need to be signed by Governor Youngkin before they can become law.
