>>Virginia's Governor Calls for Social Media Consent Age Increase
(Richmond, VA) -- Virginia's governor is calling for stricter social media rules for teens under the age of 18. Rocio Rivera has the latest.Preview: Governor Youngkin says he wants to raise the state's social media consent age to 18. That would be the age that would require social media platforms get parental consent before using their apps. Currently, nationwide that age is 13. Youngkin told reporters last week that this is not a political issue, this is a child issue. Some Democrats are onboard, while some, like Senator Aird from Petersburg says raising the age of consent to 18 could be a little drastic. But most believe the proposal will get bipartisan support.
