That's according to new data released by the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, which found that 920 people visited emergency rooms across the state for attempted suicides in 2023. That's a nearly seven-percent increase from the previous year. The report also showed the highest spike in suicide related ER care in recent years was from 2020 to 2021. In 2020, there were 863 ER visits for attempted suicides. That number jumped by nearly 14-percent in 2021 to 985.
