Retired Army Major General Cedric Wins became the first Black man to lead VMI when he was appointed in 2020. He released a statement yesterday saying the decision was a partisan choice that abandoned VMI's values of honor, integrity and excellence. Wins added that the board ignored the accomplishments of his team and instead chose to embrace bias, emotion and ideology. The superintendent's contract will expire at the end of June.
