The Virginia Department of Health has extended the order for the North Anna Branch in Louisa County, as well as the upper and middle sections of the Pamunkey Branch. These parts of the waterway are experiencing harmful algae blooms, which can cause potential health issues. Symptoms could include skin rashes, upset stomach, and gastrointestinal illnesses. People and their pets are asked to avoid getting into the water at this time. State officials say the blooms are not related to a recent outbreak of E. Coli at Lake Anna that was reported shortly after the Memorial Day weekend.
