A man has been convicted for a cold case rape in Norfolk. WAVY-TV reports it happened in 1992 when Vernon Gay reportedly broke into a woman's apartment and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint. Now 56-years-old, Gay maintains he was in a relationship with the woman and more than 30-years ago, it was before DNA evidence could be used. The case is now the first trial under the state's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative which provides funding to help solve cold cases. A jury this week found Gay guilty and he'll be sentenced in December.

The 30-day grace period is over, and now if you're caught speeding by one of the ten new cameras in Arlington school zones, expect a 100-dollar ticket in the mail. Police say more than 18-hundred warnings were issued to violators since the cameras went live August 26th. The speed limit in school zones is 20-miles-per-hour but the cameras are only active during school hours. You'll see the camera's flash if you exceed the speed limit by more than eleven-miles-an-hour.
