Virginia's only prison for youth has a big problem. Charley O'Brian reports.....Preview: A man is dead after a shooting in Richmond. Richmond Police say he was shot yesterday during a robbery at a business on Hull Street Road. He died at the scene. No arrest has been announced.
A woman is dead after a fire in Colonial Heights. It happened yesterday morning at a home on Lafayette Ave. Firefighters say they could see smoke coming from the basement, and the woman was found dead inside. There's no word on a cause.
Arlington County police have released the name of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting last week. Twenty-seven-year-old Cedric Butler was shot and killed on the upper level of the Rosslyn Metro Station last Tuesday. Police were investigating a report that Butler pulled out a knife while talking to employees at a nearby grocery store. Officers found Butler at the station and he was shot during a struggle. Two officers are on leave while the shooting is investigated.
Some expectant mothers in Richmond are getting some help this holiday season. Another Breakthrough Ahead Learning Center held a community baby shower yesterday. Toys, clothes and other items were passed out. One woman tells 8News it's nice to meet and talk to new moms, and the items passed out are helpful for a single mom.
