Police in Danville say a woman is in custody after an elderly man's death. Officers found 78-year-old Arvel Shrewsbury dead on Friday while serving a search warrant at a home on Pineview Drive. They arrested 58-year-old Jeanette Perez Staton in another part of the city and charged her with second-degree murder. The police department said Staton and Shrewsbury knew each other, but did not give any details.
The National Weather Service says a waterspout made landfall in Gloucester County last week. The agency sent a survey team to the county on Friday to assess damage from Wednesday's high winds. The waterspout was rated as an EF-0 tornado with wind speeds of 75 to 85 miles an hour. It traveled about a quarter-mile over a path that was 75 yards wide.
