A new study shows that spending at Virginia casinos is among the top ten in the United States.
Richard Stelling reports...Preview: The city of Richmond's Sheriff's Office has received a large grant for addiction and recovery programs in the state. The city will be getting 300-thousand dollars in grants to fund Medication in Addiction Treatment (MAT) and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder Programs. State officials say both programs are proven best practices for providing better recovery outcomes by reducing the danger of relapse, injury, hospitalizations, or overdose. The programs also help by providing therapy to inmates, transitioning them out of the criminal justice system, and encourage attendance of recovery programs once they're back in the community.
The Virginia State Police are investigating after a body was discovered at a homeless camp in Norfolk. The Norfolk Police Department informed the state police of the discovery just before two o'clock yesterday afternoon. The camp was located in a wooded area near the Tidewater Drive exit from Interstate 64 West. The exit was temporarily shut down and detours were put into place during the investigation of the site. No details about the person found or the cause of death were released.
The Richmond Zoo has launched a new baby pygmy hippo cam. Poppy, the zoo's newest pygmy hippo is now viewable daily through a real-time livestream on the zoo's website.
