That's what Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity Interim CEO Mary Kay Huss says. She discussed Carter's legacy after the former president passed away Sunday at 100. Carter and his wife started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in the 1980s after he left the White House. Huss says it was his second act, and it was so important to this country and the world. She also tells CBS 6 his commitment allowed Habitat to continue to grow and be strong.
The City of Roanoke plans to build Virginia's first in-river whitewater park. The city has signed a five-point-six-million-dollar contract with Environmental Quality Resources to create the area in the Roanoke River near Wasena Park. The project will be paid for by American Rescue Plan Act funding and some local support. Construction is expected to begin in the spring, with completion by the end of 2026.
A man is dead following a shooting in Virginia Beach. Officers were called to the 54-hundred block of Virginia Beach Boulevard yesterday afternoon after shots were fired in the Hunters Mill Shoppes.
