Emergency Services Director James True reportedly turned himself in to the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office on Friday. True was charged with seven counts of sexual battery and two counts of assault and battery connected to the complaints. He's been placed on leave by the county and is due in court for his arraignment tomorrow.
Virginians who want to get health insurance through the state marketplace only have a few more days to sign up. Enrollment ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. Eligible Virginians who enroll through the marketplace will have coverage beginning February 1st. More information is available on the Virginia Insurance Marketplace website.
A new study shows that spending at Virginia casinos is among the top ten in the United States. The study by gambling website Freespins-dot-com looked at 2023 spending data from the American Gaming Association. Virginia was ranked tenth overall with spending of just over 58 dollars per person. The Commonwealth was well behind ninth-ranked Maine, where casino spending was just over 80 dollars per person. Rhode Island was at the top of the list with spending of more than 420 dollars per person in 2023.
