The legacy of a former VCU student will live on in a new federal law. President Biden on Tuesday signed the Stop Campus Hazing Act. It requires colleges and universities that get federal student aid to report hazing incidents and develop anti-hazing programs. The law was inspired by the death of VCU freshman Adam Oakes. The 19-year-old died of alcohol poisoning while pledging a frat at the school three years ago. Adam's dad is glad the bill was signed, but he wonders how many lives could have been saved if it was signed sooner. He also tells CBS 6 he hopes this law helps other families avoid what his son has been going through.

Besides being president, Jimmy Carter is being remembered for putting Habitat for Humanity on the map. That's what Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity Interim CEO Mary Kay Huss says. She discussed Carter's legacy after the former president passed away Sunday at 100. Carter and his wife started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in the 1980s after he left the White House. Huss says it was his second act, and it was so important to this country and the world. She also tells CBS 6 his commitment allowed Habitat to continue to grow and be strong.
