The legacy of a former VCU student will live on in a new federal law. President Biden on Tuesday signed the Stop Campus Hazing Act. It requires colleges and universities that get federal student aid to report hazing incidents and develop anti-hazing programs. The law was inspired by the death of VCU freshman Adam Oakes. The 19-year-old died of alcohol poisoning while pledging a frat at the school three years ago. Adam's dad is glad the bill was signed, but he wonders how many lives could have been saved if it was signed sooner.

-- A local funeral home is giving you a chance to share your memories of Jimmy Carter. Woody and Nelson Funeral Homes has books to sign for the Carter family at five locations in Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and Chesterfield counties. You can sign the book until January 15th. You can also bring in mementos or letters. Bernie Henderson has some mementos. Henderson even once went to Carter's childhood home in Georgia for a tour, guided by Carter himself.
