State health officials say high temperatures may have led to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Virginia. The state Department of Health says COVID cases steadily climbed through the month of June, going from 469 confirmed cases on June 1st to 12-hundred and 47 on July 6th. Doctors say recent heat waves have driven people inside, making it easier for the illness to spread. Emergency room visits for COVID-19 treatment also increased but were still a very small percentage of the total number of diagnosed cases.  
 
 
Fairfax County is in line to receive more than 50-million-bucks from the Feds to purchase new hybrid buses. The county DOT says the grant money is being used for low-emission vehicles instead of no-emission fully electric buses due to the lack of chargers available. Meantime, Maryland plans to use 12-million-dollars of incoming federal money to add 130 EV charging stations at 23 sites statewide.  
 
Governor Glenn Youngkin says November's election will determine if America becomes the land of opportunity again.
