Officials say Alishia Nicole Warrick, a former tax preparer for Jackson Hewitt, reported false information to the IRS to obtain larger refunds and charged clients extra for boosting their tax forms. She also stole personal information to file tax returns and collect refunds directly. The Roanoke Times reports Warrick pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including tax and wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, distributing fentanyl, and possessing a gun in furtherance of a drug crime. She was ordered to pay restitution of $134,606 and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
