With data showing most tax filers will be getting a refund, which around 77 percent planning on using that extra cash for the essentials. A study from Talker Research, commissioned by TaxSlayer showed over half of the people polled said they're going to put it toward rent or utility bills. With 44% putting the money toward groceries and essential goods. Thirty-seven percent are using the cash to pay down credit card debt. Consumer Reports suggesting four key strategies. Coming in at the top of the list is paying off high-interest debt, followed by building up savings, and planning for future expenses, lastly boosting investments.
