Total tax collections are up by 600-million dollars compared to the same period last year. September's state revenue was up by 353-million compared with the same month last year. State Secretary of Finance Steve Cummings told state lawmakers yesterday that Virginia's economy looks "pretty darn good" right now. He also said there may be some areas of concern, including the Federal Reserve's move to lower interest rates to help boost job creation. Cummings said state officials are very happy with the overall state of the economy at this time.
