Authorities say the trooper encountered the teen while investigating a vehicle that allegedly fled from a Fairfax City police traffic stop. The teen, described as a known gang associate with outstanding warrants, was seen near the suspect vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. A struggle ensued, resulting in a gunshot being fired. The Washington Post reports that the teen was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the incident is under investigation by the VSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Fairfax Field Office.
