The brother of 12-year-old Malayshia Solomon, who was shot and killed in her Lynchburg home last year, will be tried as an adult. According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Bethany Harrison, Malayshia died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen last February. Malayshia's mother, Karita Winston, was charged with three felonies including child endangerment and neglect. WSLS reports her 16-year-old brother was charged with involuntary manslaughter. The brother has 10 days to appeal the decision to be tried as an adult, and if he doesn't, the case will proceed to a May 6th grand jury hearing.
