The city's Parks and Rec department and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation gathered Saturday at Fonticello Park. They planted about 250 native tree seedlings and shrubs in a 30-by-60 foot area. The city's first tiny forest will be home to 25 different tree species. A woman who lives near the forest sees the benefits. She tells 8News it'll create a habitat for insects and birds and cool down the air.
