The research from Lending Tree shows that the Commonwealth's maximum fee averaged three-dollars-twenty-seven cents a mile. That's far above the number two state on the list, Pennsylvania, which has an average of one-dollar-seventy-three cents a mile. WAVY-TV reports that pushing Virginia's average up is the Express Lane tolls on I-66 which have a four-dollar-seventy-five cent maximum fee. Virginia also had the highest average maximum fee per mile for interstate bridges and tunnels at seven-fifty per mile.
