(Undated) -- The southeast saw and early and active start to this year's severe weather season and experts say it is expected to continue.Preview: USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey says March saw an estimated 300 tornadoes with most hitting the mid-south and lower mid-west. He says April brough flooding to the Ohio Valley and lower midwest, more tornadoes than in March, and daily severe weather outbreaks during the last part of the month.Preview: Rippey says while there was a brief shift away from the traditional tornado alley path, the last two thirds of the season will see storms return to the mid-south and lower midwest.

This year's severe weather season began early and stayed active in March and April and experts say that will continue.Preview: Meteorologist Brad Rippey, with the USDA, says the combined total number of tornadoes so far, most hitting the mid-south and lower mid-west, comes up to nearly 700 since the first of the year. He says the last two thirds of the season will be rough for those in the traditional tornado alley areas of the central and southern great plains as well as the mid-south and lower midwest.
