Arlington County's tourism industry faced some of the biggest challenges in the state during the pandemic. While visitor numbers have not yet fully recovered, visitor spending hit a record of $4.5 billion dollars in 2023. The majority of spending was on transportation, food and beverage, and lodging. Tourism supported 27,600 jobs and generated $341 million in tax revenue. Libby Garvey, chair of the Arlington County Board tells WTOP the new spending record is quite an accomplishment. The county's new marketing campaign, "All In Arlington," contributed to attracting nearly 82,000 visitors who spent $29 million.
