Virginia set a record for tourist spending in 2023. The governor's office announced yesterday that tourists spent over 33-billion dollars in the state last year, a jump of nearly ten percent. That translated into two-point-four-billion dollars in state and local tax revenue, a nine-percent increase from the year before. The governor called the numbers a testament to the state's variety of attractions and unique destinations for visitors.
