The Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau says just over 13-million people visited the coastal city and spent about two-and-a-half-billion dollars. The economic impact study shows a total economic impact of $3.7 billion for the region. The report also finds tourism provided more than 32-thousand jobs, and generated 324-million dollars in state and local tax revenues. Tourists spend the most money on food and beverages, followed by lodging, then retail and recreational activities.
