The mayor of Glen Lyn, who served the town for the past 40 years, is under federal indictment for allegedly ordering town employees to dump raw sewage into the New River and the town council disbanded the volunteer fire department amid allegations. The Cardinal News reports a referendum on Tuesday will decide if the town reverts to an unincorporated area. If the referendum passes, Giles County will assume the town's assets and liabilities, including essential services like fire and police. Residents and businesses have expressed mixed feelings about its future.
